Kathy Walston has a degree in English with a minor in Comparative Literature. Literature is her passion but she enjoys all forms of communication, written and spoken. She has taught in both formal, private school settings and in home school co-ops and enrichment programs. She sees Science, Etc. as a wonderful place for children to grow in knowledge and their love of learning while honoring the Lord.
Her goal is to challenge her students to higher levels of comprehension in their reading, sharpen their skills in analyzing what they read and to write fluently in a style at once easy to understand yet solidly and logically supported. She realizes that the more our world moves into the digital age the more vital are sharp communication and reading skills, enabling students, our future adults, to understand not only what they read and hear, but to know how our culture has dealt with similar issues in the past that still inform the present. This will enable them to make more informed life-decisions and to lead richer and fuller lives.
Mrs. Walston has a wonderful husband, three adult children and five (and counting!) grandchildren. She is active in her church family, volunteers in the community and loves to influence the young people in her life to a love of reading.
