Heather Spencer

Heather Spencer believes that making great soup and teaching great lessons have a lot in
common; you can make a delicious soup out of just about any decent ingredients, and you can make an exciting lesson out of just about any children’s book. She won’t be cooking up soup this year at Science Etc., but she will be cooking up some exciting lessons, combining wonderful stories with fun, creative teaching methods.

Heather and her husband Jason have five fantastic kids that range in age from 22 to 7. They live in Weatherford, and they will be joyously celebrating their 30th wedding anniversary this year!

Heather enjoys cooking (soup especially), studying nutrition, walking, and reading
(children’s books especially). She has a unique passion for teaching kids with an integrated
approach that makes learning exciting and easy.

Heather has a BA in elementary education from Baylor University and taught in public school for seven years before having children of her own. She has homeschooled her own five children for the past 15 years and, in addition, has taught in various homeschool co-op settings.

Her children have attended Science Etc. on and off over the last ten years, and she is very
excited about jumping in as a teacher this year.
